Add Study Hall to your phone
An icon on your home screen, full screen, works offline. Three taps.
There's nothing to download from an app store. Study Hall installs straight from the browser — you get the same icon, the same full-screen app and the same offline behaviour, without an account, an age gate or an update to approve. It takes a few seconds.
iPhone and iPad
- 1. Open thestudyhall.net in Safari.
- 2. Tap the Share button — the square with an arrow out of it.
- 3. Scroll down, tap Add to Home Screen, then Add.
It has to be Safari — Chrome on iPhone can't install it, because Apple only allows Safari to do this. This is also the only way to get reminders on an iPhone: a Safari tab can't receive notifications, but the installed icon can.
Android
- 1. Open thestudyhall.net in Chrome.
- 2. Tap the three dots, top right.
- 3. Tap Install app, or Add to Home screen on older versions.
Chrome often offers this by itself after a visit or two, as a bar along the bottom.
Chromebook, Windows and Mac
- 1. In Chrome or Edge, look for the install icon at the right-hand end of the address bar — a screen with an arrow — and click it.
- 2. In Safari on a Mac, choose File → Add to Dock.
On a school Chromebook this is usually allowed even when installing real apps isn't, because nothing is being installed — it's still the browser.
What you get
- — An icon, and no address bar taking up the top of the screen.
- — It works with no signal. Your planner is stored on the device, so a bad corridor or a plane doesn't stop it.
- — Reminders, on an iPhone. Notifications only work once it's on your Home Screen.
- — It updates itself. There's no version to install and nothing to keep up to date.
Why it isn't in the App Store
Because it doesn't need to be, and putting it there would cost money every year without making it better. Installing from the browser gives you the same thing today — and nothing you add is held hostage to a store account. Open Study Hall and you can install it in about ten seconds.
